Dopamine Dressing: Your Secret Weapon for Bad Days

What if I told you that colour, print and texture could actually help shift your mindset?

Dopamine dressing isn’t a trend — it’s a tool. It’s the simple act of wearing clothes that make you feel good on purpose. And that can mean wearing black, if it floats your boat.  

When I was going through chemotherapy, I used this tool every chance I got. My bright earrings. A bold lipstick. A sequinned headscarf. They gave me back a little control. They helped me feel more me.

Here’s how to try dopamine dressing today:

  • Start small. A colourful pair of socks. A printed scarf. A bright knit.

  • Build on it. What feels good? What gives you a lift? Know what you have in your wardrobe and the pieces you love, and wear those more often!

  • Listen to your body — but let your clothes shift your mood too. Allow some fun to enter the chat. 

On days you feel invisible, underwhelmed or just plain tired, dopamine dressing is a gentle act of rebellion. It's you saying: I'm still vibrant. I'm still here. When you least feel like it, is the very time you should be embracing it.
